Pros and cons of Quick Math Jr. app for iPhone and iPad

Quick Math Jr. app good for

This app hits such a sweet spot. I bought this for my homeschooled four year old on the strength of the base app. I could hear him play it every day (the intro theme is darn catchy). As I watched him play it, I saw him figure out several concepts that hed struggled with in the past -- two- and three-part patterns in particular. The way this app presents them with subtle music and visual clues is a brilliant example of how technology can actually augment the learning experience if its done right. And this app does it right, across the board. I wound up paying for the full app. Even though it was expensive, it was clearly worth it. The best part is that it doesnt feel like learning to him -- just a really fun game. And thats how learning should be.
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this app!! This is a perfect app. It is fun, cute, engaging, and really teaches good number sense and basic maths. My complaint-and its a big one- is that it ends! ;) I really hope they develop it further (beyond beginning level) so we can keep using it!!!
I cant imagine there being a better math app for this age group. Its certainly the best out of the ones weve tried. My 5yo daughter cant stop playing. Everything about it is just so well done: the visuals, the sound effects, and the actual games.
I have a lot of educational apps for my preschool kids. This one is one of the very best.
Im giving this app four stars as its creative and the difficulty system works very well. However, its missing one very important feature. It would be fantastic if the progress was able to be saved. Ive had to restore my phone a few times and my son loses his progress which is very unfortunate and annoying. Whether the data is stored on the developer servers or the phone. Whatever it would take to be able to restore the data. Add this and I give it five stars.
Got curious about this app... I teach in grade 6 in Canada (kids 11 and 12) and used both Quick Math and Quick Math+ before. My daughters (aged 4 and 7) instantly fell in love with this app. The difficulty does ramp up a bit for my youngest, but the cute monster creation/collection feature keeps them both actively engaged together. Highly recommended!

Some bad moments

I bought this to use in my classroom. I really like the games, but the problem is you cant choose which game you play, the app chooses it randomly. Then, you also cant set how easy or difficult you want each level to be. I work primarily with preschoolers and already after having played around a little with this app, I thinking may be too difficult for them. I would prefer a way to customize this so I can practice the same skills until my kids become proficient.
I think the game design is fabulous and very engaging. Will keep kids interested and learning. At first I thought the lack of spoken numbers was a problem but as I watch kids play, I am hearing them saying the numbers themselves and solving problems in many different ways. Creating the little monsters that appear in the app is a brilliant concept. My kids like the bus game the best but for me the house is fantastic. Monsters go in and you need to keep track, but then one might come out so kids are also counting backwards. One of my students almost missed his bus home because he couldnt stop playing! Best math app for K-1 that I have encountered.
This is a great app to use if you are looking for a fun way to introduce math concepts
This app has so many things to help kids with math! Is fun, so my kids love it!
I have a just-turned 5 year old and she loves loves loves this app! And I love that she picks it over all the others during her play time each day. Yeah math!
My kids love the "monster numbers" game and I cant blame them! Adorable and educational, thanks so much!
